The Lowlands is a bluegrass/folk/roots ensemble featuring gifted singer/songwriters and instrumentalists Adrien Rejú and Chris Kasper with Todd Barneson on mandolin/vocals, and bassist Jeff Hiatt. They exist at the vanishing point, where the earth meets the sky, the point where you’re as low as can be and there’s nowhere to go but up. It’s the convergence of acoustic roots music in an urban landscape, a musical crossroads where sorrow and despair meet hope and joy, the intersection where four young musicians capture the wisdom and heart of American roots music with a fresh and youthful energy.
